Freedom In Christ · Discipleship Hub

Getting started with the Discipleship Hub

The Discipleship Hub is where you watch Freedom In Christ courses online, on your own or with a group. This guide follows two people through it: Sarah, a church leader who buys the course library and runs a class, and James, who joins Sarah's class from an email invitation.

Which describes you?

Pick one to see which chapters you need. Everything stays readable either way.
Chapter 1

Create your account

You need a free account before you can watch anything. If a leader invited you by email, skip to Accepting an invitation: the email's button creates your account for you.

1

Find the courses

On the Freedom In Christ home page, choose Discipleship Resources in the top menu, or Access all our resources. The Discipleship Hub lives behind Log in for your resources.

2

Fill in the sign-up form

Choose Log in in the top menu, then the Create new account tab. You need:

  • Email address. Receipts, invitations and password resets go here.
  • Username. Spaces are allowed. You can sign in with this or with your email address.
  • Password, typed twice. The bar under it turns green when it is strong enough.
  • First name, last name and country. Your name is what other people see in a class.

The tick boxes about your role are optional. Press Create new account at the bottom.

You are signed in straight away

A green message confirms it, and the top menu now says My Account instead of Log in. A welcome email is on its way too.

Chapter 2

Try free sessions

Every course has its first sessions open to anyone with an account, so you can watch some before you pay.

1

Open My Courses

Go to My Account, then My Courses in the blue panel on the left. Under Free to try, each course shows how many sessions are free. Launch course starts watching; See details and purchase takes you to the price.

/mycourses
Chapter 3

Choose a plan and seats

You can buy a single course outright, or subscribe to the Freedom Library, which includes every course.

1

Compare the options

The products page lists the Freedom Library subscription first, then each course on its own. Choose View on the one you want.

OptionWhat you getPrice per seat
Freedom Library, Videos OnlyEvery course's videos, as long as you subscribe£20 a month or £200 a year
Freedom Library, Videos + GuidesAs above, plus the online Participant's Guides£40 a month or £400 a year
A single courseOne course for 6 months, paid oncefrom £50

2

Pick a plan and the number of seats

On the Freedom Library page, choose a plan on the right. The courses it includes are listed on the left.

Seats are for the people you invite. Your own access comes with the purchase, so a leader who buys 5 seats can have 6 people taking part. If you are only buying for yourself, leave it at 1. You can add seats later.

The Freedom Library starts with 7 days free, and nothing is charged today.

Check out

Payments are handled securely by Stripe. Freedom In Christ never sees your full card number.

1

Check your cart

Press the button under the plan to add it to your cart. You can change the number of seats here; press Update cart afterwards. Then press Checkout.

/cart
2

Sign in if you have not already

If you started shopping before signing in, checkout asks you to sign in on the left or create an account on the right. Your cart is kept either way.

/checkout/login
3

Enter your card and complete checkout

Fill in your billing address, then your card details. The order summary shows the free trial taking the total to £0.00. Your card is kept on file so the subscription can continue after the free week. Press Complete checkout.

Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in its app or with a code. That is normal.

/checkout/review
4

Done

The confirmation page tells you the date of your first payment and gives your order number. A confirmation email follows. To stop before you are charged, cancel before that date (see Managing your plan).

Chapter 5

Your account and courses

Two pages matter most. My Account is about your plan, seats and payments. My Courses is where you watch.

1

My Account

Choose My Account in the top menu. The overview shows:

  • Your plans: what you subscribe to, how many seats, and when the next payment is.
  • Seats: how many are in use and how many you still have to give out.
  • Your card, recent orders and contact details on the right.

The tabs along the top (Payment methods, Edit details, Orders, Subscriptions) are covered in Managing your plan.

/user/my-account
2

My Courses

Every course you can watch is listed with an Enrolled badge. Press Launch course to start. When you come back later, the course opens where you stopped.

The panel on the left takes you to My Classes and to My Support (tutorials and the support form).

/mycourses
Chapter 6

Watching a lesson

Each course is split into sessions, and each session into short lessons.

1

Find your way around a lesson

  • Course outline on the left: every session and lesson. Press a session to open it, and a lesson to jump to it. The bar at the top shows how far through you are.
  • Watch / Listen: switch to Listen for audio only, which is handy in the car or on a slow connection.
  • CC in the player turns on subtitles where the video has them. The square at the right goes full screen.
  • Pop out video keeps the video playing in a small window while you scroll down to read.
  • Next takes you to the following lesson.

2

On a phone

The lesson comes first and the course outline moves below it. The top menu folds into the ☰ button. Nothing needs installing: any up-to-date browser works.

Chapter 7 For leaders

Set up a class

A class is your group's space: the people you invite, the course you are doing together, and a forum for discussion. You need seats to fill one (see Choose a plan and seats).

1

Start from My Classes

Open My Classes from the panel on the left of My Courses. Until you have a class, it shows how many seats you have and a Create your class button.

/groups/classes
2

Name it

Use a name your group will recognise, such as "Tuesday evening – Freed To Lead". Press Create Class and become a member.

/group/add/class
3

Choose the course

Tick the course or courses your group will do. Only courses you have bought appear. Press Save. You can change this later with Change courses on the class page.

/group/assign-courses
4

Your class page

  • The line under the tabs counts your seats: 0 of 3 seats used. 3 left.
  • Invite someone sits right beside it.
  • The forum is in the middle, and the course is listed at the bottom.
  • The tabs let you Edit the class and see its Members and Invitations.

Invite your group

You invite people by email, one address at a time. Each person who accepts takes one seat.

Leave Class Manager unticked for participants. Tick it only for a co-leader you trust to invite and remove people, change the courses, and delete the class.

Track who has joined

The Invitations tab lists invitations still waiting. Use Remove invitation to withdraw one and free the seat. The Members tab lists everyone who has joined.

Chapter 9 For group members

It comes from Freedom In Christ, with your leader's name and the class name in the subject. Press Accept the invitation. If it is not in your inbox, check spam or junk.

Chapter 11

Managing your plan

Everything about payment lives in the tabs at the top of My Account.

1

Subscriptions

Open the Subscriptions tab. The arrow beside Update card opens the other actions:

  • Update card: pay future renewals with a different card. Nothing is charged at that point.
  • Change seats: covered in the next step.
  • Cancel: during the free week, the trial ends at once and you pay nothing. After that, your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for and then stops. Payments already made are not refunded.

2

Change seats

Type the number of seats you want and press Work out the cost to see the price before you confirm. Extra seats are charged today, for the rest of the current period only. Fewer seats start from your next renewal, and nothing is refunded.

You are always asked to confirm, and the page says exactly what will happen. Choose Keep subscription if you change your mind.

4

Card, orders and invoices
